Google Adsense

Our website that this weblog belongs to has shown a significant improvement in search engine results since I implemented an optimisation programme at the beginning of August. Visitor numbers have trebled and are consistently in three figures per day. I did have adsense on this blog and parts of the website but have now restricted them to two unpromoted websites I own. This I did after reading an article where it was suggested that Yahoo and some of the other search engines were possibly penalising websites that displayed google adsense advertisements. I was not making a fortune out of these but it did amount to about $5 per day which is always welcome additional income. Does anybody else think this may be happening? Or is this simply scaremongering? So many rumours about search engine practices seem to fly around it is difficult to know what to believe. Another one is the alteration of the google spider so that it will only pick up relevant content links back to websites. It would seem from my own experience of my own website that this is true for google until I look at the link backs for some of my major competitors which in some cases run into many thousands. When these links are checked they are mainly for properties in Bulgaria and Spain. To my mind these are not relevant links to a cleaning company based solely in the UK? Am I completely wrong in my thinking? Has anyone anything further to add to this? Either to clarify or muddy the waters even more! Your comments are most welcome.

Marble Floor Polishing

Over the past week there has been a great deal of interest from domestic clients in our marble floor polishing service. However many of our customers who have just had new tiles laid mainly in bathrooms seem very confused as to what sealing the tiles actually means. It is very important for builders and the cleaning company engaged to carry out the builders clean to understand what material they are dealing with and how to treat it correctly. That way the customers get what they are expecting ..... a clean mark free shiny floor.

Weekend Again - And next weeks diary is filling up!

It is the weekend again and Friday I was looking forward to a relatively quite week to get our breath back after a week filled with builders cleans and house cleans. However Friday soon sorted that out as this coming week began to fill up with orders for house cleans and granite and limestone floor polishing jobs, all of them in or around London. Other places must have marble floors that are in need of attention? Is it only consumers in and around London who use the internet to find the services they are looking for?

Builders clean 2

Today started off with a builders clean at the university. This was completed successfully and without incident although the ceiling tile fitters were still working and the carpenter was fitting locks to all the doors, but we managed to follow them around to complete the clean without having to break. The most important part of the clean however was a full clinical clean in the microbiology laboratory. This involves taking everything out, cleaning it and the cupboards shelves etc. and then replacing he equipment. Took longer than anticipated but the result was excellent. Stone Cleaning and House cleaning

Monday we spent the day in London firstly cleaning a slate tiled and floored bathroom, and then watching the end of the oval test match. Picked up our Cleaning Services Manager for the London area from Heathrow upon her return from China. (Our Manager for the South of Wales will be in place over the weekend.) Contacted today by a recruiting agency who apparently had a woman who was an excellent sales representative and was working in the cleaning industry. She wanted a position where she could go out and get contracts from a cold start. Had to turn her down at the moment. This morning cleaned a flat that had been let. So it was an end of tenancy clean .... I do not think it had been cleaned in the entire time the tenants had been in place, which was in excess of two years! Especially bad was the kitchen which had taken the full impact of a great deal of frying! This afternoon secured a far more pleasant clean of a similar property in Oxford without the dirt!

Friday 09.09.05, domestic cleans and a builders clean

Opticians, two domestic cleans and then on to the airport to start a builders clean. Chaos reigns supreme and will have to return tomorrow to complete it once all the trades have completed and disappeared off the site. Small break for lunch and then off to look over three office cleans this evening. Tomorrow is the weekend again!

Sunday

Beautiful drive through the New Forest in the cool of the early morning. Donkeys, deer and ponies for the dog to chase, but she was not interested in doing any of that. All she wanted to do was chase after her ball. Rest of the morning spent in Southampton and then lunch in the Forest before returning home to do just nothing! So another day to relax and gather strength for the weeks endeavours ahead!

Saturday - relaxation day

Saturday is 'relaxation day' or relaxing from work anyway or it should be. 0715 took Charlie for a walk in the Forest and then went onto the Red Shoot Inn to work out their new cleaning schedule after the rush of summer visitors to the New Forest. Went on from there to meet a new client who is renting out one of their properties as a holiday let in a small village near Blandford. It was an excellent house to spend your holiday in very warm and friendly atmosphere. Returned to have lunch and stroll down the pub to watch England play Wales. After two hours of this I wished I hadn't bothered! I shall look forward to the cricket on thursday which will hopefully be far more exciting than that game was. I am still finding it a little difficult to get into football mode especially as the sun is shining and it is still quite hot.

Friday - Change-over clean day

Another bright sunny cloudless day and it is Bridport day for the change over cleans in the holiday lets. Pleasant drive through the Dorset countryside and along the rolling hills of the coastline. Cleaning of the holiday let was very successful, the previous occupants had been very clean and tidy! Countryside Holidays .
Driving back however was extremely hot which meant that the evening cleans would be hot and uncomfortable which they were!

Laundry Services

This is a quick post only. One of the services we provide is the full servicing of up market holiday lets. As we can be found by the coast in a very scenic county, Dorset, there are an incredible number of these dotted around the county. One of the problems we have had is finding a laundry service that can actually wash the linen clean, iron it properly and not lose any items and do all of this at a reasonable cost. Shouldn't be very difficult you may think and so did we. However the reality of the situation was quite different. We have tried many such services and found them all wanting in some respect. Except one! We have now found the ideal establishment. They provide proper cleaning and ironing with a quick turn around at a reasonable cost. I can thoroughly recommend them to anyone who is within the area and in need of such a service. They are as a result in huge demand but they never turn customers away. So if you can get to Bournemouth look out for CAPRICORN LAUNDERETTE. They can also be found quite easily by searching Yellow Pages

Quieter day

Today (Thursday) was a quieter day with less hassle. Started at six this morning removing aluminium pieces from carpets then went on to make the pub floor and toilets shine. Cups of coffee there .... very nice! This was followed by three house cleans. Each one taking only 45 - 60 minutes for us to complete, but then there is travelling time in between! These were interupted with what should have been a quick trip to Poole but the volume of traffic, roadworks and traffic lights kept interferring with the 'quick' plan! Never mind, succeeded with the object of the trip and completed the third house clean by 3.40pm. Arrived home at 4.10pm to take the dog out for half an hour in the New Forest. Ponies, donkeys, and deer all on display today, attempting to find a place in the shade away from the flies. The dog managed to find a long dead badger in a hedge and was attempting to pull it out! A few kind words put a stop to that and we carried on to the stream. One wet but cooler dog to return home with.
Cup of coffee, read the mail, write this and it was time to set off for the evening cleans. These should be OK, there will be a cleaning crew of three so should be back by 8.30pm provided there are no unforseen problems. Then it will be time to take the dog out again, eat (something only done on the move so far today) and then perhaps fall asleep in front of the television and hopefully waking before midnight to let the dog out quickly before seeking the shelter and haven of my bed! The one thing I can look forward to is a little extra time in bed. As it will be Friday I do not have to be up until 7.0am. See you then.

How wrong can you be!
Arrived home finally at 9.30pm. This was nothing to do with the cleans but on our outward journey a tanker going down the dual carriageway decided to burst into flames. We came down this same road about 5 minutes after the fire started and then came to a grinding halt for one hour. If only the unforseen could actually be forseen then we would be able to avoid a large number of problems. Perhaps I should start studying my horoscope each morning? Would that actually help?
