In many cases these expectations are unrealistic. Most will not have a problem with the cleaning until something is noticed and brought to the attention of the cleaner or the contract cleaning company and quite often it will turn out to be something that was not mentioned in the initial request. With many companies upon receiving a request for a quotation the scenario is as follows. The representative of the cleaning company arrives on the premises and meets the person responsible for overseeing the cleaning. They walk around the building pointing out the various rooms with the occassional request such as 'the skirting is never dusted'. Specific detail will often not be mentioned unless the rep. requests it. It would often seem that the client expects the cleaning company representative to absorb by 'osmosis' what the customer actually wants. The company then gains one idea as to what is to be done in the way of providing a cleaning service to these premises whilst the customer has a styalised idea of what they expect. Result is that somewhere down the line of the contract there will be complaints. Sometimes these complaints will be justified and explicit which can be easily rectified at other times they will be unclear, such as the 'standard' of cleaning is not as good as expected, without being able to give specifics only vague generalisations. These are not so easy to rectify. It is better not to get into that situation in the first place. The way of avoiding this is to carry out a very thorough site survey in which all possible cleaning details are highlighted.. From this a cleaning schedule in spreadsheet format is produced. To this is attached how the task will be performed, using any specialised equipment and materials. Together with a time schedule. Equipment costs are then included and an overall time rating for the complete cleaning service to be offered is provided.
